Your emergency lighting system is only good if it is working when required, that is in an emergency when the power fails. For this reason, national fire safety codes around the world mandate regular testing to ensure that it is in a state of readiness at all times.

Function test conducted monthly typically involves pressing a test button on the light fixture.

Once a year, a full duration test is conducted where the lights are powered off its emergency power supply for the full rated duration. The building owner is required to maintain a record of all tests.

Manual testing is labour intensive, time consuming and may be disruptive to the occupants. As a result, these tests are regularly overlooked.

In Singapore, emergency lights system not working properly has been flagged annually as the most common non-compliance uncovered during fire safety audits conducted by the Singapore Civil Defense Force.

ezCheck ATS (Automatic Test System)

The ezCheck ATS automates the regular testing of self-contained emergency lighting systems as well as generate the necessary test reports.

The system consist of an electronic module that is designed to retrofit into existing emergency light fixtures. Some re-wiring is required to allow the module to initiate the test as well as to detect the light output and  the battery voltage. However,  it will not interfere with the operations of the existing lights. If the ezCheck ATS module fails, the existing light fixture continues to operate normally.

Each module communicates with a communication gateway using wireless mesh RF.  This allows the schedule for the various tests to be programmed and for the results to be consolidated.

The communication gateway may be a smart device like a smart phone, or a router connecting to the internet through GSM, WiFi or Ethernet router. If it is connected to the internet, it will allow the schedules to be programmed remotely and the results to be accessed remotely as well.

The user interface is via an Apps downloaded onto a smart device or simply a web-browser running on any PC. With the appropriate software and configuration, the test reports may be printed or a pdf copy automatically emailed to registered recipients.

Additional Features

The module also continuously monitor mains power supply, the lamp status and the battery voltage. It may be programmed to send out an alarm to registered recipients on detecting any alarm status, like mains power failure, battery failure, etc. This allows for proactive maintenance to ensure that the emergency lighting is at its highest level of readiness all the time.

If the retrofit module itself fails, the system can be configured to send out an appropriate alarm. Test module failure will only affect the communication and testing function. It will not affect the proper functioning of the emergency light.

Installation

AutoCheck Solutions Pte Ltd does not manufacture emergency lights. Our ezCheck ATS is designed to be incorporated into new light fixtures by the manufacturer or retrofitted into existing lights by the contractor to provide for automatic testing.

Emergency lights employ a variety of lamp driver and battery charging circuits. To ensure compatibility therefore, each light circuit will need to be qualified by AutoCheck Solutions Pte Ltd before implementation.

Since the modules communicate wirelessly, no additional field wiring is required. Installation is therefore the same as installing normal emergency lights.

Compliance Made Easy

Once installed, the ezCheck ATS will provide full compliant function test and duration test automatically as well as produce the required reports, either by printed hardcopy or softcopy.

There is no need for technicians to carry a ladder around the building saving man-power and time. Occupants are also not unduly inconvenienced.

ezCheck ATS saves on manpower to ensure that the installed emergency lighting system are tested regularly in compliance with relevant fire safety codes.

Hence our tagline : Compliance Made Easy
